|  | The Icelandic Music Awards-winning Mikael Máni presents Innermost, an album situated in the dynamic space between poetic guitar jazz and folk, exploring themes of growing up, searching, and coming of age. Full of emotion, depth, and personal memories.
Mikael Máni’s third album is a musical reflection on his youth and a life phase marked by transformation, inspiration, and inner movement. To create Innermost, Máni travels back into his own past and listens to the music that shaped him. During long bus rides to school, he discovered a variety of genres, experimented, and let himself drift through them. To capture this feeling, he returns to one of those Icelandic school buses and plays music there together with his bandmates — a place that became a sonic symbol of his youth. The time on the bus forms the emotional core of the album. Máni’s guitar playing is complemented by a multitude of musicians and instruments — a layered sonic journey into his past. Each piece is inspired by albums that influenced him: from Jimi Hendrix and Debussy to Bob Dylan. Even though he has since moved away from some of these musical influences, they remain part of his foundation. So let us join Mikael on his journey and drift through an Icelandic school bus, guided by musical poetry.
