|  | Algerian Raï singer Mohamed Lamouri releases his second album "Méhari". In the five adapted cover versions and six original compositions, Mohamed Lamouri blurs the boundaries of Arab and Western cultures. His raw voice paired with brilliant trumpets, soft organ sounds and rhythmic drums make "Méhari" a unique listening experience.
Mohamed Lamouri was born in 1982 in Tlemcen, Algeria. Visually impaired from birth, he fell in love with music at the age of 5 when he heard Raï for the first time on a music program on television. Mohamed Lamouri then began to make music and eventually performed at a festival of Arab-Andalusian music in La Rochelle in 2003 and decided to stay in France. Shouldering his Casio SA-75 synthesizer, Mohamed Lamouri began playing cover versions adapted to Arabic in the metro as well as performing his own compositions in the protective anonymity of the subway. Known and loved by the Parisian and Marseille populations as the "living jukebox of Cheb Hasni," Mohamed Lamouri released his first album, "Underground Raï Love," in the spring of 2019. On the album, the musician presented both adapted cover songs of renowned artists such as Cheb Hasni or Michael Jackson, and his own compositions, which were such a success that many of them were on continuous loop on the radio. For his latest album "Méhari" Mohamed Lamouri has teamed up with musicians Mocke, Charlie O. and Baron Rétif. Through the variety of instruments, the musician has succeeded in creating a versatile sound. Influences from funk, synthwave or reggae give Mohamed Lamouri´s album a sunny sound, which provides variety with his strong character voice.
